Of Fifteen, Ice Skating, and Daggers
So, on Friday, Zach drove me to a Christmas party at Maddi's house. The drive itself was quite interesting, as I'd been forbidden to speak my our mother before we left home. Right when we needed the GPS to tell us where to turn, it decided to majorly fail. So I tried to get the GPS to be nice again and tell us where we needed to go, before I finally decided it'd be easier if I just helped Z look for the street. We did end up finding it without much trouble, and finally arrived at Madison's place. The party was fun, we ate, did a white elephant gift exchange, had a photoshoot with a unicorn, then played hide and seek in the orchards! When we got ready to leave, there were many hugs, and goodbyes, before Lexie got in the car with us to go home. We drove home in an eerie, dead silence, as instructed by Mom. I gave Lex her Christmas present (a Bob Marly cd) in the car, and silently cracked up as I saw her expression of wonder, joy, and delight when she opened it. When we finally finally pulled into the driveway, Zach remarked what everyone was doubtlessly thinking, "Well that was a creepy car ride." We entered the house and went into the hall, in search of Mom and Dad. We found them coming out of their bedroom, where they had apparently been wrapping Christmas presents with Jeni. We talked to them in the hall for like five minutes, before we remembered that Lex should probably check her phone, since D said he would text her if he could spend the night. It ended up that he could, so I went to go take a shower. I took a seriously quick 5 minute shower, before going out into the living room, where Z was on the computer looking up Nightclub Two Step songs and Lex was sitting on the floor talking to Jeni. I sat down in front of Lex for a few minutes, before we got up and started dancing with each other. We argued over who had to be the male, before deciding that since Lex was wearing the tie, she would be it first, then we would switch off. Lex and I danced for a little while, before D got there, then when he got there, we moved the chairs out of the way so we had room for all of us to dance. We had found like 8 different songs we liked that fit the beat, and had them on repeat, so we switched off partners, I ended up teaching D the Nightclub Two Step, and we danced until bedtime. I was having major trouble sleeping, so ended up sleeping on the couch. At 7ish, I think, I woke up and went to go wake Lex up so we could wake up the boys. She was already up, and just getting up to go figure out where I'd gone, so we tiptoed to Zach's door, and opened it. Unfortunately, he'd felt the need to sleep with his head right in front of the door, so we didn't get to jump on them or anything. They got up, and we all went to get ready for the day. When we were ready, we sat in the living room, and Lex insisted I open her present. She gave me this awesome ninja tshirt, and a notebook. I went to go put on the shirt, and when I came out, Dad gave me one of their presents to open. It was this awesome spring assist knife! As I was playing with it, Maddi pulled up, so Lex and I ran out to see her. I gleefully showed her my new, very sharp weapon. We left soon after that, and in the car there was much tickling, playing with Hello Kitty toys, picture taking, and laughing. We got to the ice rink, and, knowing everyone else was likely to be late, paid and got our ice skates on. We then went to start skating. After a couple laps, Lex and I both had the feel of it again, so we went off to help Maddi. After about a half an hour, Morgan got there, so I skated over to hug her. We skated around for a bit, laughing, watching D do these comical dances before he fell down, and talking. Alicia got here, so I hugged her, Marlissa, and Julie, and talked to them for a little before skating some more. After an hour of skating, I saw my mom enter the rink and point to me. There was light in the glass, so I didn't see she had someone with her, I just thought she wanted to see me. I skated to the enterance, and got off the ice and saw Isaac had finally gotten here. We hugged, and then he hugged Madison, who'd followed me off the ice. We stepped onto the ice, and Maddi skated off, while I stayed to help Isaac. We skated until noon, me mostly holding Isaac up while he tried to get the hang of it, but occasionally leaving him with someone else so I could skate really fast. Then we went to get pizza at a nearby roundtable. Me, Madison, and Lexie were in the back, Isaac and Alicia in the middle, and my mom was in the front. In the short car ride, there was laughing, tickling, teasing, and hair braiding. We finally got there, and Maddi presented Isaac with his Christmas present... a unicorn piniata!!! We went inside and sat down at a very long table. We ate pizza, then I opened presents. I ended up with three different cds, a notebook and pen, fencing gloves, combat boots, and this AMAZING dagger Isaac made for me. I then had a knife fighting lesson in the middle of round table, we ate cake, and loaded back up in the cars again. When we got to the ice skating place, Isaac opened his Christmas present from me, for which he told me that his whole family would love me for it, and his brother would be very jealous. We went back in, and skated until five, with a couple really funny things happening. Maddi and I were helping Isaac, so we each had hold of one of his hands. Zach thought it would be fun to scare Maddi, so he skated up behind her, hits her shoulder and goes "BOO!" then we watched as he faceplanted into the ice. It was one of those moments where you wish you had a video camera!! The best part? He didn't even scare Maddi :D The other super funny thing that happened, was Mads decided she wanted to hug some random guy. So, she told me to dare her to hug someone, so she could say that her friend dared her to do it. So there were these three guys and a girl sitting down in one of these things off to the side of the rink. Maddi went over to one of them, pointed at me, and said, "My friend dared me to hug some random guy, so can I have a hug?" I waved when she pointed at me, then he shrugged, smiled, opened his arms, and said "Sure!" So they hugged, Mads skated back to us, and we cracked up laughing. The guy had this huge grin on his face when he sat down, and we told Maddi she probably made his day. At five, Mrs. Humber showed up, so Isaac, Madison, and I went to take off our skates so we could walk him out to his car. We went to our car first to get his stuff, then out to their car. Mom and Mrs. Humber talked for a while, until the rest of the people came out of the building. We said goodbye to Isaac, then went and loaded up in our van. We drove home, and everyone but me and Mads fell asleep. Maddi and I spent the car ride talking, sharing a soda, and stroking my dagger. All in all, it was a really good birthday :)
